Indie Vinyl Den Essential Indie Albums: Bon Iver "For Emma, Forever Ago"

There are some artists that time and time again release brilliant works. Bon Iver, the singer-songwriter Justin Vernon led band, is one of those artists. Today we look at their debut For Emma, Forever Ago which is one of our Essential Indie albums! Delusions of Adequacy gave it a perfect score of 100 and described it as “Seamless in its construction, poetic in its songwriting and moving in its aesthetic impression.” Observer Music Monthly also with a perfect score stated, “For Emma, though only nine tracks long, is as beautiful, bleak and intimate as anything 2008 is likely to throw up.”...

Gorillaz "Humanz" Release News

The record label has not had a smooth rollout of the upcoming Gorillaz release of "Humanz". They first told us to do pre-orders for a regular and a deluxe set. Within a few days they told us that a deluxe set would not be available to retail. They also released album cover art that featured all member of Gorillaz, but now that has also changed. Each configuration (cd, LP, cass, digital) will feature a different member of the animated band. The LP version will feature Noodle on the cover.

Indie Vinyl Den | Records You Should Own - R.E.M. "Lifes Rich Pageant"
R.E.M. Life’s Rich Pageant was released 25 years ago, but it sounds like something that could have been released right now. This was the record that pushed Michael Stipe’s voice more to the front, some joked they could almost understand the lyrics! It was more Pop oriented than the previous Tales of the Reconstruction which was disappointing in sales (awesome record too though.) Fall on Me was their first single to get commercial radio airplay and pushed Life’s Rich Pageant to become the band’s first Gold record.)
