Unknown Mortal Orchestra - Blue Record - Vinyl Record
Ruban Nielson once found the acoustic guitar a little too "twee" for Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Then radio sessions and stripped-down live sets kept asking for it, and, inspired by the acoustic playing of Love's Arthur Lee, he set out to make it sound fresh. The Blue Record is the result, released by Jagjaguwar in 2013 as a companion to II.
Recorded straight to tape in the band's basement with a single microphone, these five songs reveal the melodies at the heart of UMO. Acoustic takes on "Swim and Sleep (Like a Shark)," "Faded in the Morning" and "So Good at Being in Trouble" sit next to "Swing Lo Magellan," a Dirty Projectors cover, and "Puttin It Down." The intimate, close-mic sound is warm and a little ghostly, like overhearing a late-night session.
Pressed as a one-sided 12-inch EP, it is a neat collector's piece and a perfect partner to II on the shelf.

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.
Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.
If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.
After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.
Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
