Swedish musicians Dan Lissvik and Rasmus Hägg’s project Studio is seen as "the missing link between The Cure and Lindstrøm." They are tied to a scene near the labels Service and Sincerely Yours, foreshadowing the 2010s electronic and psychedelic music surge led by indie artists like Caribou. Their 2006 debut, West Coast, blends Balearic, Krautrock, disco, dub, and afro-beat, infused with new wave pop lyricism, showcasing the talents of two Gothenburg art school graduates. Initially pressed as a vinyl-only release, it remains mostly absent from streaming services, leaving its impact from the blog era nearly forgotten. After three 7” releases, they paused for several years. In 2005, Hägg recalls, “We got our degrees and were kicked out of our studio, and all these recordings piled up. A year later we revisited and reconstructed them." They cite influences like DJ Screw, J Dilla, and Joy Division. Hägg emphasizes, "The anything-goes mentality was crucial to the Studio sound, allowing our eclectic musical influences to surface."After the 2007 album response, Studio faded, entangled in remix requests and label issues, including a release for Kylie Minogue. Reflecting, Hägg wishes they had produced more original work, yet both artists find solace in West Coast as their standout collaboration. Lissvik notes it reminds him to explore and grow creatively.

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.

Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.

If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.

After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.

Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
