The National's Laugh Track is the companion to First Two Pages of Frankenstein, a vibrant and exploratory album that radiated trust and faith. Capturing the invigorated live performances, the band crafted most of the material in impromptu recording sessions in producer Tucker Martine's Portland Studio. Finishing the body of work in two nights, the album closer "Smoke Detector" was recorded during soundcheck in Vancouver. With a spark of spontaneity and vintage rock energy, Laugh Track makes a perfect complement to its predecessor.
