Time Flies is Ladyhawke's fourth album and the most direct thing Pip Brown has made. Released in 2021 after a stretch that included cancer treatment and getting sober, it takes the eighties synth pop instincts that made My Delirium a hit and puts them in service of songs about survival and gratitude rather than nights out. Guilty Love and Take It Easy carry real hooks, and the production is bright without becoming brittle. Brown plays most of the instruments herself, which she has done since the beginning, and her guitar work is a bigger part of the sound than the synth pop label suggests. A short, warm, unpretentious record from a New Zealand artist who has quietly built a very consistent catalog.
