If Chvrches' third record Love Is Dead has a theme, it's open-mindedness both in terms of the creative process and the band's ideology. Singer Lauren Mayberry wrote lyrics in the same room as the trio and chose to explore themes beyond romantic love. And with the help of outside influences, Chvrches crafted a sound that is both gloomy and gorgeous. Lead single "Get Out" is a bold expression of despair and joy while "Graffiti" and "Deliverance" blend punk and pop. The anthemic "Graves" and dreamy "Heaven/Hell" address topical issues of being a female-led rock band. As Lauren puts it, Love Is Dead is about "coming to terms with the world" and the good and bad it brings.
