Produced by Shawn Everett (The War on Drugs, Kacey Musgraves), the album trades the dense wall-of-sound approach for something more spacious and luminous. "Kisses" drifts on pillowy synth pads, "shanty" opens with a hypnotic pulse, and "the slab" builds to a gorgeous crescendo that ranks among the band's finest moments.
