Ten years after its release, Wye Oak's Civilian remains a raw, sinewy punch of a record: bleak, intense, lonely and self-assured all at once. Jenn Wasner (Flock of Dimes) and Andy Stack (Joyero, Lambchop) built huge, distorted swells out of just two people, and songs like "Holy Holy" and the title track unravel with the self-questioning and uncertainty that come with youth. When the Baltimore duo released it on Merge in 2011, it marked both the ascension and the end of a version of the band.

This 10th anniversary deluxe edition pairs the original album with Cut All the Wires: 2009-2011, a second LP of demos, rarities and covers from the era, including a Daytrotter session take of "Two Small Deaths," a demo of "Civilian" and their reading of the traditional "Black Is the Color."

Pressed as a Merge Peak Vinyl edition on green swirl vinyl, it comes in a gatefold jacket with an obi strip, printed inner sleeves for each LP and a download code. An essential pickup for any indie rock collection.
