Widespread Panic - Space Wrangler - 2LP Splatter Color Vinyl Record

Widespread Panic's debut studio album Space Wrangler returns as a 2LP set on teal, yellow and green splatter vinyl. First issued in 1988 by the small Georgia indie Landslide Records, it captured the Athens band early, already locking into the loose, jam-hungry Southern rock that would make them one of the great touring bands of their generation.

Spreading the album across two records gives the long-form moments plenty of room. Fan favourites like "Chilly Water" and "Porch Song" sit next to a swaggering take on J.J. Cale's "Travelin' Light", the title track stretches out with real patience, and the final record closes on the epic pairing of Robert Johnson's "Me and the Devil Blues" with "Heaven", a longtime concert staple.

For Panic fans, this is where the story starts, and the colour pressing makes it a natural centrepiece for the collection. A fine way to hear the band before the stadiums.
