Way Dynamic - Massive Shoe - Silver Opaque Color Vinyl Record

Way Dynamic is Dylan Young, a Melbourne songwriter who has spent years inside other people's bands, playing with Cool Sounds and Good Morning and drumming for Snowy Band and Kankawa Nagarra. Massive Shoe is his third album and the first to get an international release, produced and largely performed by Young himself.

The songs sit somewhere between minimalist folk-pop, art rock and baroque pop: falsetto vocals, close harmonies and arrangements built from small, carefully placed parts rather than big gestures. It would be easy to file the writing as timeless and leave it there, but the turns of phrase are unmistakably now, and Young moves between real sentiment and outright silliness inside a single song, suggesting a flight to space one minute and worrying over a miscommunication the next.

Word has travelled fast. Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee called "Miffed It" her favourite song in a very long time, and Young has toured with Waxahatchee, MJ Lenderman, This Is Lorelei and Black Country New Road. Pressed on silver opaque vinyl for Jagjaguwar. A quietly rewarding one to sit with.
