Teen Suicide's seventh LP arrives via Run For Cover Records, marking their first full-length in three years. Following the TikTok success of "you were my star" from honeybee table at the butterfly feast, the band returns as a fully realized trio: Sam Ray and Kitty Ray (married in 2016) on vocals and songwriting, with drummer Niko Wood completing the lineup since 2022. Nude descending staircase headless is a landmark release—their first recorded in a professional studio, their first as a committed full-time band, and their first since 2012 with a dedicated drummer throughout. Sam Ray calls it the band's "career highlight so far." The album explores fulfillment through creation, weaving motifs of death and rebirth with joy emerging from profound loss. Thematically, it reframes identity not as isolated, but as part of an interconnected whole. Standout tracks like "Idiot" deliver direct storytelling, while "Spiders" features Kitty Ray on lead vocals with a darkly feminist edge. Musically, Teen Suicide channels late-'80s and '90s heavy rock—drawing from Nirvana, Radiohead, Shellac, and Helmet—while incorporating math rock and metal influences honed through recent tours with DELTA SLEEP.
