Sufjan Stevens - Silver & Gold - 6LP Vinyl Record Boxset

Sufjan Stevens turned a private habit of recording a Christmas EP for friends every year into one of indie music's most loved holiday traditions. Silver & Gold: Songs for Christmas, Vols. 6-10 first arrived in 2012 as the follow-up to 2006's Songs for Christmas, and this 2024 Asthmatic Kitty reissue brings all five volumes back to vinyl in a slipcased box.

Across six LPs (four single records plus the double-LP Christmas Infinity Voyage), Stevens moves from hushed hymns and Sacred Harp singing to electronic pop, a Prince cover and the sprawling twelve-minute "Christmas Unicorn." Nearly 60 songs mix traditional carols with originals like "Mr. Frosty Man," "Justice Delivers Its Death" and "Christmas in the Room," all delivered with the same warmth and mischief that run through his studio albums.

It is a big, generous set that rewards a whole season of listening, and a natural centrepiece for any holiday shelf. Bring it home before the decorations go up.
