Steve Winwood - Talking Back To The Night - Japanese Vintage Vinyl

Talking Back To The Night is Steve Winwood's 1982 album, a true solo effort. As on its predecessor Arc Of A Diver, Winwood wrote the music, sang and played every instrument himself, recording at his home studio in the Gloucestershire countryside.

"Still In The Game" became a Billboard Hot 100 single, while the opener "Valerie" had a second life: a 1987 remix turned it into a top ten US hit years after this original version appeared. The reflective "While There's A Candle Burning", the moody title track and the closing "There's A River" round out a warm, synth-driven blend of rock and soul.

This is the Japanese edition on Island, catalogue 25S-129, released through Polystar. Japanese pressings of the early eighties are valued for their quiet surfaces, ideal for hearing every layer of Winwood's one-man arrangements.

A rewarding pickup for anyone who follows Winwood from Traffic to his solo years.
