Steve Earle wasn't yet recognized as one of Nashville's most respected, intelligent, and controversial voices when he stepped on stage for a taping of the long-running public television series Austin City Limits in the fall of 1986. At that time, he was a promising newcomer touring behind his well-received debut album, Guitar Town, and recording his follow-up album in fits and starts during his downtime from touring. The live performance from Austin, TX, part of a series of CD and DVD releases from the rich Austin City Limits archive, shows Earle when his confidence and stage presence were still developing. While there are many great songs in this set, some of the tunes that would later become staples of his live shows—especially the mature work from his post-"vacation in the ghetto' period—had yet to be written. Though this edition of the Dukes wasn't the strongest he would ever have, Earle's energy and enthusiasm truly shine through. His voice remains solid, and the performance gathers momentum as it moves through a robust 17-song set. Live from Austin TX may not be the definitive Steve Earle live album, but it offers a warm and genuine snapshot of a major artist just beginning to find his footing. The talent, swagger, and conscience that would define his most well-known work are all present here, even if they haven't yet come into full focus.

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.

Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.

If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.

After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.

Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
