King Of Hearts was assembled after Roy Orbison's death in 1988, built from vocal recordings he made during the Mystery Girl sessions and completed by producers including Jeff Lynne. It is not a lost classic in the way Mystery Girl is, but that voice remains one of the most extraordinary instruments in popular music, and hearing it in late eighties production is a genuine experience. There are duets, reworkings and a version of Careless Heart alongside originals. For collectors of the Traveling Wilburys era and anyone who came to Orbison through Blue Bayou or In Dreams, it fills in the final chapter.
