Chicago pianist Ramsey Lewis cut More Sounds Of Christmas for Argo Records in October 1964, a follow-up to his trio's popular 1961 holiday set Sounds Of Christmas. It arrived just before Lewis broke through to the pop charts with "The In Crowd", "Hang On Sloopy" and "Wade In The Water", and it captures his trio at a creative peak.

Lewis plays piano and celeste, with Eldee Young on bass and cello and drummers Red Holt and Steve McCall sharing the sticks. On half the songs, arrangers King Fleming and Will Jackson add a lush string section, harp and trombone, giving "Snowbound", "The Twelve Days Of Christmas" and "Little Drummer Boy" a warm, cinematic glow. The trio cuts loose on the bluesy "Egg Nog" and "Plum Puddin'" and puts a soulful swing under "Jingle Bells" and "White Christmas".

This Verve reissue recreates the original Argo artwork. Cool, elegant and cosy, it makes a perfect soundtrack for holiday evenings and a fine gift for any jazz fan.

Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.

If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.

After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.

Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
