Plasmatics - Beyond the Valley of 1984 - Vinyl Record
Beyond the Valley of 1984 is the second album from the Plasmatics, the notorious New York band fronted by Wendy O. Williams. Released on Stiff Records in 1981, it was produced by the band's manager and co-founder Rod Swenson and cut in under three weeks, a lean, fast follow-up to New Hope for the Wretched.
With Alice Cooper drummer Neal Smith sitting in behind the kit, the band welds punk speed to heavy metal muscle and wraps it all in an Orwellian, apocalyptic theme. Richie Stotts' buzzsaw guitar drives "Masterplan", "Headbanger" and "Fast Food Service", while Wendy's snarl powers "Sex Junkie" and the defiant closer "Pig Is A Pig". The record helped set the template for the crossover between punk and metal that followed later in the decade.
This vinyl reissue presents "Hit Man" and "Plasma Jam" in live versions recorded in Milan. Loud, chaotic and still thrilling, it belongs on any punk or metal shelf.
