Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants is the strangest album in the Oasis catalog and, twenty five years on, one of the most interesting. Released in 2000 after Paul McGuigan and Paul Arthurs left the band, it finds Noel Gallagher playing most of the instruments and pushing into psychedelia, drum loops and backwards guitar. Go Let It Out has one of his best basslines, Gas Panic! is a genuine nightmare set to music, and Where Did It All Go Wrong? is the sound of a songwriter taking stock. Liam Gallagher's first writing credit appears here on Little James. It is a transitional record with real character. This 25th anniversary silver vinyl pressing gives the denser tracks noticeably more separation.
