My Bloody Valentine - Soft As Snow: Peel Sessions & Rare Tracks - Yellow Color Vinyl Record

Recorded for John Peel at the BBC's Broadcasting House on 25 September 1988, this session catches My Bloody Valentine weeks before Isn't Anything arrived and rewrote what a guitar band could sound like. The four Peel performances are faster and fiercer than the studio takes, all tremolo bend and blown-out drums, and they document a group discovering its own language in real time.

The rarities gathered alongside them are the real draw for collectors. The reading of Wire's "Map Ref. 41 Degrees N 93 Degrees W," cut for the 1996 tribute album Whore, finds the band in post-Loveless mode, sanding every edge off the original until it floats. Also here are the two instrumentals that came with the first 5,000 copies of Isn't Anything, including "Instrumental No. 2" and its Public Enemy sample, an early hint of the genre-blurring that would define Loveless and m b v.

Pressed on yellow colour vinyl, and one for the shoegaze faithful.
