Mogwai - Every Country's Sun - Clear Color Vinyl 2LP
Every Country's Sun is the ninth studio album from Glasgow post-rock band Mogwai, released in 2017 on Temporary Residence in the US. It reunited the band with producer Dave Fridmann, who had worked on Come On Die Young and Rock Action, and it distills two decades of their contrasts into 56 concise minutes: towering volume, pastoral calm and synth-driven minimalism.
The range is wide. "Coolverine" opens on percussive, dreamlike electronics, "Brain Sweeties" builds on church organ, and "aka 47" hums with foreboding synth bleeps. "Party In The Dark" is one of the band's most direct pop songs, a New Order-tinged rush with a rare lead vocal from Stuart Braithwaite. The final stretch turns heavy, with "Battered At A Scramble" and "Old Poisons" leading into the colossal title track and its cosmic closing crescendo.
This edition is pressed on clear 180 gram vinyl across two LPs in a gatefold sleeve, with a download code included. A natural pick for post-rock collectors and longtime Mogwai fans alike.
