Minus the Bear's debut EP This Is What I Know About Being Gigantic on opaque Gigantic Green vinyl, a limited pressing of 1,000 copies from Suicide Squeeze. Originally released on CD in 2001, it is the starting point for one of Seattle's most inventive indie rock bands.
This edition was mastered for vinyl by Bernie Grundman, the Hollywood engineer behind many of the industry's landmark recordings, giving the band's intricate, finger-tapped guitar lines and tight rhythms new depth and clarity. Already here are the hallmarks that would define Minus the Bear: math rock precision, warm melodies and a sense of humour that shows in song titles like "Hey, Wanna Throw Up? Get Me Naked", "Lemurs, Man, Lemurs" and "Just Kickin' It Like A Wild Donkey". Recorded with Matt Bayles, the EP set the stage for Highly Refined Pirates and everything that followed.
Includes an insert and a download card. An essential first chapter for Minus the Bear fans and anyone who loves math rock and 2000s indie.
