Minus the Bear - Highly Refined Pirates - Yellow Blend Color Vinyl Record
Highly Refined Pirates is the 2002 debut full-length from Seattle's Minus the Bear, released on Suicide Squeeze and still the purest snapshot of the band's early sound. Produced and engineered by Steve Fisk and tracked at Studio Litho, it pairs finger-tapped, twisting guitar lines with slinky grooves and wry, nocturnal lyrics about parties, travel and romance.
The song titles are part of the legend, from "Thanks for the Killer Game of Crisco Twister" and "Monkey!!! Knife!!! Fight!!!" to "Get Me Naked 2: Electric Boogaloo" and "Booyah Achieved." Behind the jokes sits some of the most inventive and melodic math rock of its era, as precise as it is fun.
This Suicide Squeeze repress comes on limited Yellow Blend color vinyl, pressed in an edition of 1,500. A must for fans of intricate, melodic guitar rock.
