Before Highly Refined Pirates arrived, Minus the Bear had built real anticipation in Seattle on the strength of one 2001 EP, This Is What I Know About Being Gigantic. To keep that momentum going they cut a short promotional sampler: two songs from the coming album, an instrumental interlude, an exclusive track and a demo, packaged in a cardboard slipcase and handed out at shows or dropped into mail orders. Its title, Bands Like It When You Yell "YAR!" At Them, was a wink at the album it was advertising.
It is a genuine artifact of the last years of the CD era, and for two decades it stayed on CD only. This is its first pressing on vinyl, remastered by Bernie Grundman with lacquers cut at 45 RPM, on Puget Sound color vinyl in an edition of 1000 copies, with a polylined inner sleeve and a download included. Early Minus the Bear at its most restless and funny, finally on record.
