Marshall Crenshaw - Field Day - 40th Anniversary Expanded Edition Vinyl 2LP

Marshall Crenshaw's second album, Field Day, gets the 40th anniversary treatment from Yep Roc as an expanded double LP, remastered by Greg Calbi with new liner notes from Crenshaw himself.

Released in 1983 as the follow-up to his acclaimed debut, it was produced by Steve Lillywhite, who helmed U2's War the same year, and engineered by Scott Litt at New York's Power Station. Lillywhite gave Crenshaw's tightly written power pop a huge, roomy drum sound that divided critics at the time and sounds bold today. The songs rank with his best: the sweet "Whenever You're on My Mind," the Beatlesque "For Her Love," "Our Town," and "Monday Morning Rock," his ode to walking out of the club and finding the sun already up.

The second record adds six bonus recordings, four of them previously unreleased, including TV track versions of "Our Town" and "Monday Morning Rock" and a guide vocal take of "What Time Is It?" Crenshaw calls Field Day the most fun he ever had making an album, and this edition makes the case.
