Korn - The Path of Totality - Vinyl Record
Korn's tenth studio album, The Path of Totality (2011), was a bold swerve that few metal bands would have risked. Jonathan Davis and company teamed up with a who's who of dubstep and electronic producers, including Skrillex, Noisia, Excision, Downlink, Kill The Noise, 12th Planet and Feed Me, and fused the band's down-tuned crunch with wobbling bass and razor-edged synths.
The result is heavy in an entirely new way. "Chaos Lives In Everything" and "Get Up!" pair Davis's snarl with Skrillex's glitchy drops, "Narcissistic Cannibal" became one of the band's biggest late-era hits, and "Way Too Far" and "Bleeding Out" show the melodic side of the experiment. Davis has said the title refers to the narrow band of earth where a total solar eclipse can be seen.
Music On Vinyl presses the album on 180-gram vinyl in a gatefold sleeve. A fascinating crossover record for nu metal and electronic fans alike.
