Kevin Morby's Sundowner was born from a homecoming. After years in Los Angeles and New York, the singer-songwriter moved back to Kansas City, bought a four-track recorder, and started capturing songs in the golden hours between daylight and dark. The result is his most intimate and atmospheric record — a collection of dusky folk-rock meditations that feel like watching the sun slip below the Great Plains horizon.
"Valley" opens with a warm, winding melody that sets the tone for the whole album — unhurried, reflective, deeply rooted in place. "Campfire" flickers with quiet warmth, "Sundowner" itself glows with twilight Americana, and "Don't Underestimate Midwest" is a love letter to the heartland that raised him.
