Quiet Lies followed the album that made Juice Newton a star, and she used the momentum to push further into pop. Richard Landis produced again, and the singles did the work: "Love's Been A Little Bit Hard On Me" went top ten in America on a hook built from a chugging guitar figure, and her reading of "Break It To Me Gently" won her a Grammy the following year. Underneath the gloss she is still a country singer, which is what keeps "Adios Mi Corazon" and "Trail Of Tears" from tipping into soft-rock wallpaper.
Capitol released this edition in Japan in 1982, catalogue ECS-81500, issued with a Japanese insert. The album reached the American top twenty and stayed on the charts for most of that year, which is why Japanese copies of it are easier to find than those of her later albums.
