Lives In The Balance is Jackson Browne's 1986 album and his most openly political record. Self-produced and shaped by his visits to Nicaragua, it turns his eye to American foreign policy in Central America, and Rolling Stone later ranked it among the 100 best albums of the eighties.

"For America" opened the album as a fiery, guitar-driven single that reached the Billboard top 40, while "In The Shape Of A Heart" offers one of his most personal ballads. The haunting title track features the Los Angeles Nueva Canción group Sangre Machehual, and "Soldier Of Plenty" and "Lawless Avenues" carry the album's themes with urgency and melody.

This is the Japanese edition on Asylum, catalogue P-13246, made by Warner-Pioneer. Japanese pressings from the mid-eighties are prized for their quiet vinyl, which gives the album's blend of synthesizers, Latin American textures and full rock band room to breathe.

A powerful listen for fans of thoughtful, socially aware songwriting.

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.

Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.

If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.

After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.

Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
