A Jolly Christmas from Frank Sinatra returns on 180-gram vinyl, newly remastered in its original mono for this Capitol and UMe reissue, part of the Sinatra 100 centennial series.

Recorded for Capitol in 1957, it was Sinatra's first full Christmas album for the label, with arrangements and conducting by Gordon Jenkins and warm backing from the Ralph Brewster Singers. The record is built in two moods. The first half is all swing and sentiment: a breezy "Jingle Bells", a tender "The Christmas Song", "Mistletoe and Holly", which Sinatra co-wrote, and "The Christmas Waltz", written for him by Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne. The second half turns reverent, with Sinatra and the choir moving through traditional carols from "The First Noel" to a hushed "Silent Night".

It remains one of the defining holiday records of the era, and the mono mix keeps that voice front and center. A natural pick for any Sinatra or vocal jazz shelf this season.
