Fiddlehead - Baby I'll Change - Alewife Red & White Color Vinyl Record
Fiddlehead open a new chapter with Baby I'll Change, a three song EP for Run For Cover Records. After Death is Nothing to Us in 2023, the Boston band left New England for North Carolina and worked with producer Alex Farrar, whose recent credits include MJ Lenderman, Snail Mail and Hotline TNT.
The change of room suits them. The urgency of Pat Flynn's writing is intact, and so is the tension between hardcore drive and the big melodic hooks the band has been sharpening since Springtime and Blind, but Farrar gives the guitars more air and the songs more space to land. Three tracks is a short visit, and it works in their favour: nothing is padded.
This is the Alewife Red & White pressing, a First Run Club indie retail edition of 2500 copies with a screenprinted B-side rather than a second side of music. Worth grabbing while the color is around.
