Father Mother Sister Brother (Soundtrack) Jim Jarmusch & Anika Magenta Color Vinyl Record
Jim Jarmusch and Anika met at the Sacred Bones 15th Anniversary in 2022, where both performed. Jim was impressed by Anika’s performance, and Anika admired Jim’s consistent vision. This respect led to a collaboration, including the haunting soundtrack for Jarmusch’s film Father Mother Sister Brother. Jim first asked Anika to cover Jackson Browne’s “These Days,” inspired by Nico’s version. This track, arranged by Anika with the Kaleidoskop string quartet, was recorded in Berlin as “These Days (Berlin Version).” Jim later mixed a minimal version with electric guitars. In Berlin, Jim revealed that Dusty Springfield’s “Spooky” was the only preexisting film track. Anika, who performed it live, suggested they cover it. Their stripped-down version was used to open the film’s credits. Much of the score was improvised during hours of collaboration between Jim and Anika, leading to additional recordings in Berlin with Wurlitzer, electric guitar, and affected electric guitars. Back in New York, Jim turned these into short instrumental pieces for the score. The final touches were completed during a residency in Paris via the Pompidou Center. The film’s music is an atmospheric, experimental soundscape, designed to evoke the surrounding air rather than focus on individual characters.
Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.
Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.
If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.
After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.
Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
Hold up… what were we saying?
