This is Sub Pop's Loser Edition — the limited first-press colored vinyl, sold to pre-order customers only and long out of print. LP and inner sleeve only; the pre-order bonus 7" is not included.

Dum Dum Girls began as Kristin Welchez alone in a bedroom studio, burnt out after five or six years playing in other people's bands. By 2014 the project had grown into a full band and delivered Too True — its third album, and, as it turned out, its last. Recording as Dee Dee Penny, Welchez shut herself into her New York apartment in the summer of 2012 determined to write her way toward Suede, Siouxsie, Madonna and The Cure, and toward the 19th-century French poets she'd been reading. "Rimbaud Eyes" is exactly as literal as it sounds.

Richard Gottehrer (Blondie, The Go-Go's) and Sune Rose Wagner of The Raveonettes produced, tracking at Eastwest Studios in Hollywood with Alonzo Vargas engineering, mastered by Joe LaPorta at Sterling Sound. Gottehrer's fingerprints are everywhere — "Are You Okay?" was a song Penny meant to hand off to Ronnie Spector until he talked her into keeping it. Ten songs, thirty minutes, no filler: glossy, reverb-drenched Eighties goth-pop.
