Adrenaline, released in 1995, introduced Chino Moreno's signature dynamic — a voice that could shift from a whispered croon to a feral scream within a single bar — alongside Stephen Carpenter's crushing, down-tuned riffs and Abe Cunningham's relentless precision behind the kit.
"Bored" and "7 Words" became underground anthems, "Engine No. 9" showcased the hip-hop-inflected grooves that set the Deftones apart from the nu-metal pack, and "Minus Blindfold" hinted at the atmospheric textures they'd fully explore on White Pony and Diamond Eyes. Twenty-plus years later, Adrenaline still hits with the force of a band that had everything to prove.
