As 2023 marked the close of his remarkable 'American Utopia' era, David Byrne started capturing those fleeting moments of inspiration—grooves, chords, and melodies—creating demos with nothing more than his acoustic guitar layered over a programmed beat or loop. The previous three years had prompted him, and many of us, to reflect deeply: “Do I like what I'm doing? Why am I writing songs, or working this job, or whatever? Does any of it matter?" His journey to answer these profound questions unfolds in 'Who Is The Sky?', his first-time collaboration with Grammy-winning producer Kid Harpoon (Tom Hull, known for his work with Harry Styles and Miley Cyrus) and the New York-based chamber ensemble Ghost Train Orchestra, featuring guest appearances from Paramore’s Hayley Williams, his longtime collaborator St. Vincent, and The Smile drummer Tom Skinner. This album not only builds on the hopeful themes introduced in 'American Utopia' and its accompanying tour, but it brings clarity as seen in the Grammy-winning Broadway show and its subsequent film. With this new offering, Byrne dives even deeper into his lifelong quest to explore human connections and the possibility of societal unity amidst the chaotic world around us. 'Who Is the Sky?' is a vibrant tapestry of personal reflections, cinematic moments, humor, and joy, all woven together with valuable lessons—reminding us that love is beautifully unexplainable, that enlightenment takes on many forms, and that it’s beneficial to keep your skin nourished, regardless of how you wake up the next day. Above all, the songs showcase Byrne’s incredible ability to balance avant-garde creativity with pop accessibility.

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.

Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.

If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.

After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.

Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
