Four-Calendar Café is one of the two Cocteau Twins albums released by Capitol Records in the US. The album was recorded and produced by the band at their September Sound studio in West London, situated on the banks of the Thames. It was released after the band members had turned 30. The album features the singles 'Bluebeard', 'Evangeline' and 'Summerhead', and is a beautiful yet bittersweet work showcasing maturity and fragility. Liz's lyrics, though still cryptic, are more intelligible than in previous works. The album's memorable design of inanimate objects was created by Walter Wick, the creator of the I Spy children's book series. Four-Calendar Café continues to be a classic work even after three decades.
