Cassadaga: A Companion is a six-song EP from Bright Eyes, part of the companion series released alongside Dead Oceans' reissues of the band's catalog. These are not leftovers. Each companion EP reworks songs from its parent album, and Conor Oberst's rule was that they had to sound substantially different from the originals, with one cover from the era added. Here the parent album is Cassadaga, the band's lush, polished 2007 record.

Oberst, Mike Mogis and Nathaniel Walcott invited friends to help reshape the material. Alynda Segarra of Hurray for the Riff Raff joins on "Clairaudients (Kill or Be Killed)," Johanna and Klara Söderberg of First Aid Kit bring their harmonies to "Coat Check Dream Song" and "Wrecking Ball," a Gillian Welch and David Rawlings song, and Welch herself appears on "Napoleon's Hat." New versions of "Middleman" and "I Must Belong Somewhere" round it out. Released in 2023, it is pressed on opaque gold vinyl.

A fresh angle on a Bright Eyes favorite that sits naturally next to Cassadaga on your shelf.

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.

Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.

If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.

After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.

Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
