To celebrate 30 years of Blur’s The Great Escape, the band is excited to announce the release of a special 30th Anniversary edition on 2xLP. This edition includes a bonus disc filled with rare B-sides that have never been available on vinyl before. Originally released on September 11th, 1995, this iconic album beautifully captured the spirit of Britpop at its height and marked a significant milestone in Blur’s journey.
The Great Escape followed Blur’s global breakthrough with Parklife. It soared to No. 1, selling over 125,000 copies in its first week, and went on to achieve Triple Platinum status in the UK (over 900,000 sales to date). It features hit singles like Country House (#1), The Universal (#5), Stereotypes (#7), and Charmless Man (#5). These singles have sold over 1.8 million copies in the UK, garnered more than 60 million views on YouTube, and accumulated over 335 million streams worldwide. The album truly defined mid-’90s Britain, capturing both the optimism and underlying complexities of the era, and it solidified Blur’s place at the heart of one of the most talked-about moments in music history.
