WE is the sixth studio album from Montreal's Arcade Fire, released on Columbia in 2022 and pressed here on 180g white vinyl. Produced by Nigel Godrich alongside Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, it condenses what Butler called the longest uninterrupted writing stretch of the band's career into a tight, 40-minute record of seven songs.
The album is built as two halves that mirror the two faces of the vinyl. The "I" half sits with anxiety and isolation, moving from the nervy "Age of Anxiety" pieces into the sprawling four-part "End of the Empire". The "WE" half turns toward connection and release, led by the soaring single "The Lightning I, II" and the tender "Unconditional I (Lookout Kid)", with Peter Gabriel joining Chassagne on "Unconditional II (Race and Religion)".
It is the band's most focused record in years, a journey from darkness into light that rewards playing straight through. A great addition for fans of Funeral and The Suburbs.
