Angel Olsen took a detour into the '80s on Aisles, and it's an absolute delight. This five-track covers EP reimagines classics from Laura Branigan, Billy Idol, Men Without Hats, OMD, and Alphaville through Olsen's signature lens of lush synths, layered strings, and that unmistakable voice.

Recorded with engineer Adam McDaniel at Drop of Sun Studios in Asheville, NC during the summer of 2020, Aisles was born from a desire to have fun and be spontaneous. Olsen slows "Gloria" down to a dreamy crawl, transforms "Safety Dance" into something hauntingly beautiful, and gives "Forever Young" the kind of emotional weight that makes you hear the song all over again. "Eyes Without a Face" leans into eerie vocal harmonies, while "If You Leave" shimmers with a faster, brighter energy.
