Before Introducing..., Aaron Frazer was best known as the falsetto voice and drummer behind Durand Jones & The Indications. His solo debut, produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys at his Easy Eye Sound studio, steps fully into its own lane with 42 minutes of soul, gospel, doo-wop, and disco that sounds pulled from another era but never feels like imitation.
"You Don't Wanna Be My Baby" opens with a warm, swaying groove that sets the mood immediately. "If I Got It (Your Love Brought It)" keeps the energy up, "Bad News" shifts into politically aware soul in the spirit of Gil Scott-Heron, and "Have Mercy" is pure dancefloor gospel. "Lover Girl" and "Ride with Me" are breezy and infectious, while "Over You" showcases Auerbach's production instincts at their sharpest. "Leanin' on Your Everlasting Love" closes the album with a gorgeous, uplifting send-off.
Released in 2021 on Dead Oceans/Easy Eye Sound, Introducing... is a debut that balances consciousness-raising with pure joy. This pressing comes on random eco-color recycled vinyl.
