Before Blondie turned "Hanging On The Telephone" into a hit, it belonged to The Nerves. Formed in San Francisco in 1974 by Jack Lee, Peter Case and Paul Collins, the trio released just one record in their lifetime, a four-song 1976 EP on Greg Shaw's Bomp! label, yet their mix of proto-punk drive and jangling melody helped write the power pop rulebook.

The Nerves - Best Collection marks 50 years since that EP and gathers 66 minutes of studio, live and demo recordings on two red marble vinyl LPs. Third Man Records compiled it with Case, Collins and Lee's daughter Cynthia, and tracked down the original source tapes instead of leaning on dubs from old records and CDs. Warren Defever mastered and remastered everything at Third Man Mastering in Detroit, so these are the definitive versions, some unheard since the day they were cut. Case's "When You Find Out", later revisited with The Plimsouls, sounds as bright as ever, and new liner notes from Case complete the package.

Essential listening for anyone who loves The Plimsouls, Paul Collins' Beat or the Bomp! story. Add it to your collection.

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.

Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.

If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.

After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.

Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
