Hasten Down The Wind is the album where Linda Ronstadt stopped being a singer of other people's songs and became an interpreter. Recorded through the spring of 1976 with Peter Asher producing, it moves from Warren Zevon's title track to a Buddy Holly cover to "Lo Siento Mi Vida", one of the few songs she wrote herself, and it holds together because her phrasing carries it. Andrew Gold and Waddy Wachtel fill out the band, and the whole record sits in that Californian space between country and rock that nobody worked better.
This is the 1981 Japanese Asylum edition, catalogue P-6544Y, in a gatefold sleeve with the double-sided insert carrying English lyrics on one side and a Japanese biography of the singer on the other.
