Brothers In Arms is one of the most recorded and most demonstrated albums in audio history, and the reason is simple. Mark Knopfler and engineer Neil Dorfsman built a mix with enormous depth, from the gated drums on Money For Nothing to the quiet, reverberant guitar of the closing title track. Released in 1985, it sold in numbers that seem impossible now, largely on the back of Money For Nothing and Walk Of Life, but the slower material is where the album ages best. So Far Away and Your Latest Trick reward attention and a decent pair of speakers. This 180 gram 2LP cut spreads the long running time properly, which keeps the bass tight through the second half. A frequent choice for testing a new cartridge or a new system.
