Screaming Trees es considerado uno de los padrinos del Grunge. Aunque fueron una de las mejores 'bandas de Seattle' de principios de los noventa, nunca lograron el éxito comercial de bandas como Nirvana, Pearl Jam y Alice in Chains.
Fundada en 1985, la banda tuvo que esperar hasta 1992 para su mayor éxito comercial, el lanzamiento de Dulce olvido . Polvo es su séptimo y último álbum lanzado originalmente en 1996. En contraste con las grabaciones anteriores del grupo que estaban más influenciadas por el rock psicodélico y el punk, Polvo está igualmente influenciado por el folk y el blues, aunque conserva un sonido más duro. Después de este álbum, The Screaming Trees se disolvió.
