Santa's got a brand new bag. A Soulful Christmas is James Brown's 1968 holiday album for King Records, back on vinyl in a faithful stereo reissue from Polydor and Universal.
This is no ordinary Christmas record. Recorded at the height of his powers, it sets holiday themes against the tight, horn-driven funk the Godfather of Soul was inventing in real time. "Santa Claus Go Straight to the Ghetto" asks Santa to visit the neighborhoods that need him most, "Believers Shall Enjoy (Non Believers Shall Suffer)" rides a hard groove, and "Let's Unite the Whole World at Christmas" turns the season into a call for togetherness. The album also carries his landmark 1968 anthem "Say It Loud (I'm Black and I'm Proud)", giving the record a social edge few holiday albums ever attempt.
Equal parts party starter and statement, it belongs on the turntable every December and beyond. A great pick for funk and soul collectors looking for something more spirited than the usual seasonal fare.

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.
Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.
If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.
After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.
Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
