Her musical roots stem from her mother's old records, which introduced her to T-Rex and the Velvet Underground, and later to artists like PJ Harvey and Joni Mitchell. That inspired her to pick up the guitar. On Hold, her debut collection of songs, was written during her teens and initially served as an emotional outlet. Released in 2018, its popularity surged after she toured with Lucy Dacus and Andy Shauf, and critics singled her out as a unique, emotive voice.
