Hiroshi Miyagawa - Space Battleship Yamato - Anime - Japanese Vintage Vinyl

Space Battleship Yamato (known as Star Blazers in the West) is one of the landmark titles in anime history, and this 1977 LP on Nippon Columbia accompanies the feature film that brought the story to Japanese cinemas. Hiroshi Miyagawa composed and arranged the music, with its stirring march themes, romantic strings and dramatic battle cues.

This is more than a score album. It is a story record in mono, telling the voyage to Iscandar through narration, sound effects and dialogue from the original voice cast, including Kei Tomiyama as Susumu Kodai and Goro Naya as Captain Okita, woven through Miyagawa's music. Isao Sasaki sings the famous opening theme, and the album closes with "Makka Na Sukaafu".

This is the Japanese edition, catalogue CS-7033, in a gatefold jacket. Vintage anime records like this are prized by collectors for their original artwork and the snapshot they give of the late-1970s anime boom.

A treasure for any anime or soundtrack collection.
