Cock Robin were an American band that Europe adopted as its own. Formed in San Francisco in 1982 around singer-songwriter Peter Kingsbery and singer and keyboardist Anna LaCazio, they released a self-titled debut in 1985 that made little noise at home but became an overnight success across the continent, sending "The Promise You Made" and "Thought You Were On My Side" into the Benelux top 10.

The interplay between Kingsbery's earnest lead vocals and LaCazio's clear, soaring voice gave their polished new wave pop real emotional weight. Later albums added "Just Around The Corner", "Worlds Apart" and "The Biggest Fool Of All" before the group split in 1990. Kingsbery revived the name in 2006, and newer songs such as "Bodies On A Bed Sheet" and "Portrait" show the songwriting never went away.

This 12-song collection from Sony Music's Ultimate Collection series gathers the European hits and later highlights on a single 180-gram LP. An easy way to hear why "When Your Heart Is Weak" still sounds so good on a proper turntable.
