Bright Eyes - Fevers and Mirrors: A Companion - Opaque Gold Color Vinyl

When Bright Eyes moved their catalogue to Dead Oceans, Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis and Nathaniel Walcott went back through all nine studio albums and cut a companion EP for each. This is the one for Fevers and Mirrors, the 2000 record that turned a Nebraska songwriter into a name people argued about, revisited more than two decades later.

The re-recordings are not touch-ups. "Haligh, Haligh, a Lie, Haligh" and "A Scale, A Mirror and Those Indifferent Clocks" become duets with Phoebe Bridgers, a longtime Bright Eyes obsessive and Oberst's partner in Better Oblivion Community Center, and the arrangements sit lower and slower than the originals. "Arienette" and "A Spindle, A Darkness, A Fever, and a Necklace" trade teenage nerve for something steadier, and the EP also makes room for "Hypnotist (Song for Daniel H)", a Lullaby for the Working Class cover that meant a lot to the band at the time.

Six songs, around 22 minutes, on opaque gold vinyl with a download included. A good companion to the album, and fine on its own.
