Go-Betweens, The - Liberty Belle and the Black Diamond Express - Vinyl Record

Liberty Belle and the Black Diamond Express was the Go-Betweens' fourth album and their first for Beggars Banquet, recorded in London in 1986 during what the band calls their London years. Record Collector hailed it as "one of the greatest albums of the decade," and Uncut praised how "everything comes together with the perfect fourth album."

Robert Forster and Grant McLennan went in with a clear plan. "If this was to be our last shot, it had to be on our terms," Forster later explained: no drum machines, no piecemeal recording, and a grander, more exotic range of instruments built on the crisp, woody sound of Before Hollywood. Drummer Lindy Morrison put it simply: "every single song is a classic." Highlights include "Spring Rain," "Head Full of Steam" and "Apology Accepted."

This edition uses the 2019 remaster prepared for the G Stands For Go-Betweens Volume Two anthology, and it marks the album's first individual vinyl release in over 30 years. A cornerstone for any shelf of eighties jangle pop and literate indie rock.
